The Madras Plaid is a timeless part of South Indian part of sensibilities along with its heritage comes out in this beautiful Kanjivaram which is not defined by trends. Even before the Burberry checks (British fashion company )came into fashion in 1856. The madras checks were always in vogue since 1639. Weavers from madras then called madraspattinam started weaving madras plaids in saris, handkerchiefs, etc. When the Britishers were looking for stuff to trade in, they saw the design and hired 500 plus weavers to incorporate madras checks into various clothes and started exporting to different parts of the world that’s how the iconic madras checks became a trend from Paris to Milan and Newyork to London and still in vogue throughout the world. The body features the multi checks in indigenous colours woven in mustard yellow, rani pink, anandha blue and mandhulir green with 8 kol woven pure zari border on both sides with seepu rekku zari pallu.
