Where It All began
Forty years ago, Hema Vinothini began the House of Clio Silks the way every great weave does: with a single thread, a patient hand, and a promise. Working alongside master weavers in the silk towns of South India, she set out to preserve the true art of the Kanjivaram, its pure zari, its temple borders, its unmistakable weight and shine.
For twenty-five years, that promise lived on the loom alone, saree by saree, weave by weave. Then, fifteen years ago, Hema Vinothini took the House of Clio Silks a step further, opening our own stores so that customers no longer had to go through anyone else to own an authentic, handwoven Kanjivaram. Today, that same silk reaches homes across India and around the world.
Our particular pride lies in classic and vintage Kanjivaram sarees: rich temple borders, traditional motifs, and pure zari work that once wove through generations of South Indian weddings. While trends have changed, we have stayed true to this heritage weave, restoring and recreating vintage Kanjivaram designs for a new generation.
The Weavers Behind Every Weave
For forty years, our strength has never been machines. It has been people. Every Clio Silks saree passes through the hands of skilled artisans who have spent their lives perfecting the pit loom, the zari work, and the temple borders that make Kanjivaram silk unmistakable.
We do not simply sell sarees. We carry forward a craft, training young weavers, preserving traditional motifs, and ensuring that an art form as old as our country continues to thrive, one saree at a time.
Forty Years, One Promise
Over four decades, trends have come and gone, but our promise has not moved. Every Clio Silks saree still carries the same purity of silk, the same craftsmanship, and the same care Hema Vinothini promised on day one.
What began on a single loom now reaches customers across the world. A Clio Silks saree is more than a purchase. It is where a bride finds her wedding Kanjivaram, a daughter finds her first silk saree, and a mother finds the one she will pass down to her own daughter someday.
Forty years of weaving. Fifteen years of retail. One standard of quality, never compromised.
